As we are leisurely traveling through High Country of Victoria, I've come across a Post office Telegraph museum:
The lady "attendant", informed me that there are "at least" three old gentlemen coming some afternoons and use the equipment. Each has their preferred key or paddle and they use it. She switched on one of the setups for me and let me try it. It sounded good.
Pity she had to leave for lunch and I could not meet any of the old timers.

K1N on 12 m
This morning of local time I worked them on 12 m on a third call. The signals here were no more than S3 or 4 and no doubt my sigs were about the same on his end. He asked about twice to repeat the callsign. The op was very courteous to ask for more VK/ZL immediately after the exchange. Those guys are top operators.

Got lucky again on 20 m.
Yesterday during local afternoon I managed to work them on 20 m. The signal here was only about S3 and I can imagine that my signal on their end was not much stronger (similar antenna and power). The "op" had most obviously very "good ears". TNX FER QSO OM.
All good fun.

K1N on 20 meters yesterday in Sydney.
The pile-up is huge. Tried a little, but gave up.. no hope against the US and EU signals.
About thirty minutes later and his signal got stronger here in Sydney.
Question: Why some station "must" tune-up on the DX frequency?
Question: Why some in the pile-up "must" transmit while he is transmitting?
They are working on antennas now:

K1N on their first day of operation.
Just got lucky... OK it's been hard work... (close to 30 minutes) but got him.
At his moment (it is Monday evening here in VK2) they are operating only on 40 m. According to the website they will have eight radios running for the next two weeks...
The band looks pretty busy out there:
GL all. I hope that you will get him too...
